The City of Nice in France was an eye opener…I just wished that I had more time to explore this beautiful city with my traveling companions…hope to be back!
I have been traveling in recent weeks and have mainly focused on video rather than still photograph; also because of the slow internet access I have not posted on a daily basis as I intended to do.
From the veranda of my hotel room in Lourdes, France, I was able to admire the Chateau fort de Lourdes, once a castle since the 8th century, a royal prison from the 15th century, and a museum from the 20th century to the present.
Avignon, the city where the Medieval popes went into exile, persuaded by a woman named Catherine of Siena, to return to its rightful See, Rome, the eternal city.
We are quite familiar with the picture of an abbey built on an island somewhere in France called Mont Saint Michel. Here is a photo of what you might find as you explore it. The bridge connects the abbot’s house and the church.
The basilica is located at the highest point of the City of Paris dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, built towards the end of the 19th century and dedicated after World War I.
