Salvador de Bahia

Salvador de Bahia is to me the most beautiful place I have been in all of Brazil.  It is the home of about three million people and its old city centre can be seen a blending of European and African influences.

You’ll never know what to expect when travelling.  You get to see something like this – an oversized sombrero on a hot sunny day.  Just weaving this must have taken days if not weeks to finish.

Salvador de Bahia

Salvador de Bahia is one of the oldest colonial cities in South America founded by the Portuguese in 1549.  In all my travels to Latin America: Salvador, Quito, and Cartagena are the most beautiful colonial cities I have seen so far.
